Known limitations

  • Only one instance of the app runs at a time. A second launch brings the existing window to the front.
  • “The model is too large for the 3D view”: The 3D preview shows models of up to 3 million triangles. The app counts every repetition of an object separately. A 3MF file with 50 identical objects that point to one shared mesh can therefore exceed the limit despite a small file size, for example 50 ducks with about 60,000 triangles each (about 3 million in total, while the file itself holds only about 91,000). The catalog entry, its data and the preview image still work. In the detail view switch to Image or open the model with Open in slicer. Whether a file is too large is recorded in the log file as model too large for 3D preview (… triangles).
  • “Open in slicer” for manually added slicers on macOS: automatic slicer detection already finds the correct, directly executable program file inside the .app bundle for known programs (Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer, PrusaSlicer, SuperSlicer, UltiMaker Cura) — “Open in slicer” works reliably for those. If you add a slicer manually instead, you need to navigate the macOS file picker to <Name>.app/Contents/MacOS/<Name> (⌘⇧G lets you type the path directly), since a .app bundle itself isn’t a directly executable thing in the technical sense.
  • The macOS and Windows installer packages are unsigned — Gatekeeper and SmartScreen respectively will warn on first launch (see Installation for the way around it).
  • There is no cloud connection — the catalog is deliberately local-only; an earlier Google Drive integration was removed again because it was too unstable in everyday use.
  • The printer connection currently supports Klipper/Moonraker only. OctoPrint and Bambu Lab are planned, PrusaLink later.
