Filament usage is missing

On the detail page of a 3MF file, a box Filament usage appears with the hint No usage given. The file then contains no slicer data. The app does not know how much filament the model needs, so it shows no usage. This is not an error of the app.

Without usage data, Is there enough filament? in the Material Manager stays “unclear”.

The hint applies to 3MF files that were not exported from a slicer as a sliced plate, for example files you downloaded directly from a model page.

The hint does not appear for STL, OBJ and STEP files, because only 3MF files can carry slicer data.

  1. Open the file in your slicer, for example Bambu Studio or OrcaSlicer.
  2. Slice the plate.
  3. Export it as a sliced plate, that is a 3MF with slicer data.
  4. Import the exported file into the catalog.

The detail page then shows the usage. For a file that is already in the catalog, “Rescan metadata” re-reads the values, see Model details.
